AgroCenta is an e-commerce platform that makes it easy for farmers to distribute their products through the use of their mobile phones. The first step is to advertise their products on the platform, and then access the transportation services so that they can take their products to their clients.
The startup was founded in 2015, aiming to improve Ghana’s agricultural value chain. Francis Obirikorang and Michael K. Ocansey, founders of the company, sought to solve two critical problems: the lack of market access for small farmers in rural areas, and the lack of a logistical system that would enable them to transport their goods.
Currently, we live in a world which is in constant evolution, where through the advent of new tools and technologies, several barriers of communication and professionalization are being broken.
Innovations such as AgroCenta expand the market of other dealers and enable farmers to have a greater control of production and reduce some of the typical business associated risks.
AgroCenta is a great tool for subsistent farmers who suffer on a daily basis with resource management and distribution problems, with scalability and a potential to go far beyond Ghana. It is safe to say that AgroCenta is a startup designed for the world.
